When I was in the 5th-grade, my teacher had assigned us a year long project, where we had to concept, write and print produce our own novel. My novel was about a young woman, who was writing a book herself. One day, she was sitting on the beach, continuing to draft her story until some uncontrollable force of nature blows it all away. Long story short, her novel was returned to her by a man, whom she later falls in love with.
It was not the most creative of all stories, but having the opportunity to craft a novel from conception to the physical piece was a very proud moment for me. I am forever grateful for my former teacher, who gave us full control of the entire creative and development process. Because of this freedom, it had pushed me to tap into my own creativity and trust my inner self.
You can say, writing was my first love.
